Presidential single-signed baseballs dating from the first half of the twentieth century are highly desirable and rare. This single-signed ball by Warren G. Harding (1865-1923), 29th president of the United States, is an extreme rarity. This is the only Harding single-signed ball known to exist! Harding has signed the official American League baseball (Johnson) in steel tip fountain pen across the sweet spot. All of the manufacturer’s stampings remain bold and distinct. Based upon those stampings, this ball can be dated precisely to the seven-year manufacturing period of 1918-1924. Harding, who once owned a minor league team, was a great fan of our national pastime. The record shows that Harding attended five Major League games during his presidency, including three season openers in Washington where he threw out the ceremonial first pitch and the first shutout in Yankee Stadium (1923). For anyone attempting to assemble a complete run of signed presidential baseballs, this is an extremely rare opportunity. The ball is in Excellent condition. Comes with Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
