Before they were able to lift the Stanley Cup as NHL champions on five different occasions, the Pittsburgh Penguins had some early hurdles to clear. This March 28, 1991, print of the front page of the Post-Gazette sports section celebrates the first time the Pens’ won the Patrick Division – their first divisional championship in team history. That team would go on to win that season’s Cup and have proceeded to be one of the dominant franchises of hockey’s modern era. The page measures 15.5×24″ and roughly 33 signatures in thick black Sharpie and surround the celebratory image. All keys are here – Lemieux, Jagr, Francis, Murphy, Mullen, Stevens, Barrasso, and the rest. The print itself appears NRMT and is nicely framed, a significant rarity as items signed by this entire team are scarce.
